Your Tale begins shortly after you place your order. We ship your first delivery as quickly as possible so you can begin your adventure without delay.
After that, new story pieces are mailed twice each month — on the 1st and 15th — from our Southern California location. All Tales are shipped through the United States Postal Service, and most readers receive their deliveries within 7–10 days. Shipping times may vary slightly depending on your location.
Every delivery includes the next chapter of your Tale along with immersive story pieces that may include clues, photographs, postcards, notes, reports, maps, secret messages, and other artifacts. Each envelope uncovers new mysteries, unexpected twists, and discoveries designed to pull you deeper into the Tale.

What's included with my Tale?
All Tales are delivered to your mailbox twice per month over 6 or 12 months, depending on your story. Tiny Tales are 6-month stories, and Signature Tales are delivered in 12-months.
Each envelope contains a handcrafted letter plus extras like postcards, notes, newspaper clippings, maps, and more! Each piece is designed to make the tale feel real and immerse you right into the thick of the story.
The Collector's Edition comes with a keepsake tin to store your letters. This tin can also be added to other purchases. The Collector's Edition letters are mailed monthly like our other Tales.
The Educator's Editions come with four complete letter sets, Educator Notes with questions and instructions for leading a group through the Tale, and a keepsake tin. This entire collection arrives at one time so that you can set the pace of the Tale.
When do my letters arrive?
Your first letter ships right away via United States Postal Service and typically arrives within 5-7 business days.
After your first letter, tales ship out on the 1st and 15th of the month from our Southern California location, and typically arrive within 1 week of each mailing date.
The Educator's Edition ships one time, with all letters included.
What if I don't like my Tale?
We want you to be happy. If you don't like your Tale, you can cancel your monthly subscription within 30 days of your second letter for a prompt refund, or for a small processing fee, you can switch to a different Tale.
Prepaid Tales and Educator Editions are not refundable.
Can I give Mailbox Tales as gifts?
You sure can! Just enter the recipient's name and shipping address at checkout. Letters will be mailed directly to them.
Gift purchases will also receive a free printable gift card that you can download and print to give in person, or email it to let them know their Tale is on the way.
Who writes Mailbox Tales?
Every Tale is written and crafted by Jean Scally. Each letter, postcard, clue, newspaper clipping, and inclusion is created by hand, without the use of templates or outsourced creators.
Jean loves to read, and she always loves a good adventure. That's how Mailbox Tales got started.
